WELCOME! From the Director of our Graduate Programs
Thank you for your interest in the Department of Mathematical
Sciences at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis
(IUPUI).
We offer graduate programs leading to Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in pure
and applied mathematics from Purdue University. All program
requirements are completed at the IUPUI campus, located in the heart
of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Our department is a vibrant academic community with prominent researchers
in several areas of mathematics and statistics, providing an excellent
environment for collaborative and interdisciplinary study. We are
fortunate to have a low student/faculty ratio, which offers students
many opportunities for close interactions with faculty and careful
research guidance.
We offer competitive financial support to qualified Ph.D. students in
the form of university fellowships, graduate teaching and research
assistantships. Qualified M.S. students also receive consideration
for financial aid. Fellowships and assistantships carry stipends for
the academic year and summer support, plus tuition waivers and health insurance.
In the future we hope to expand our Ph.D. program and introduce
additional programs that will take advantage of our numerous strengths
as the urban research and academic health sciences campus of Indiana
and Purdue Universities. In fact, we have recently proposed a new Ph.D.
program in
Biostatistics, which we are hopeful will be approved in the fall of 2008.
