Need Help With Math?

Mathematics Assistance Center (MAC)
The Mathematics Assistance Center is a service provided by the Department of Mathematical Sciences and University College at IUPUI and is available to all students enrolled in an introductory mathematics course at IUPUI, through MATH 262. Both walk-in-tutoring and mentoring sessions are available, staffed by qualified student employees who have been thoroughly trained to provide assistance.
Bepko Learning Center
The Bepko Learning Center offers free Academic Mentoring to aid students in various courses. Information on free departmental tutoring and paid tutors on a variety of courses are also available. Students eligible for free math tutoring through VA/VR benefits should contact the Bepko Learning Center.
Adaptive Educational Services (AES)
IUPUI is committed to providing equal educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. If you have an academic need related to a disability, please contact AES. Don't wait until it's too late to get accommodations. As a student, it is important that you complete the testing accommodations process with AES as soon as the semester begins.
Further Suggestions

If you are having any difficulties, seek help immediately - do not wait until it is too late to recover from falling behind or failing to understand a concept. Ask your instructor either in class, during office hours, or during an appointment. Email your instructor or use the OnCourse "email instructor" function. Work with your classmates (this is always a good idea) and visit the MAC. It is essential not to fall behind because each lecture is based on the previous material.

Good study habits are important for doing your best in any course. Here are a few tips for success:

  • Always go to class and take good notes.
  • Read each section in the text before it is covered in class. This will help you follow your instructor's lecture.
  • Do the homework the day of the lecture or the next day and don't procrastinate!
  • Do all of the homework thoroughly, write out all of the details, keep it organized, and use it to help you study.
  • Review your old tests and look at solutions until you know what you did wrong and understand the solution.
  • Make sure you figure out the approach to a problem, rather than simply memorizing the solution.
  • Start studying for exams early and make sure to completely work out any sample tests that you may be given. It is difficult to do well if you start studying for an exam the night before.
