2008 IUPUI High School Mathematics Contest

Mathematics and Space Exploration: Sponsored by the IUPUI Department of Mathematics

The theme of the 2008 contest was Mathematics and Space Exploration. Dr. Rodrigo Perez delivered a talk entitled What Does It Take to Go to Mars (and Come Back)? at the ceremony for winners on May 11. Scholarships in the amount of $2,500 per year were awarded to the top 16 winners. All student winners received a popular book on mathematics. In addition, four Mathematics Departments were awarded prizes of $250 each based on the rankings of their students. These went to Carmel, Brownsburg, Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern high schools.
