The Indiana Department of Transportation Summer Internship
|
|

In addition to the substantial cash prizes made possible
by the support of TMMI, the The Indiana Department of
Transportation (INDOT) generously awarded a summer internship
to our first prize winner, Jean Bao of Carmel High School.
Mr. Maan Omran was on hand to represent INDOT and present

Dr. Richard Patterson of the Department of Mathematical
Sciences and Chairman of the High School Math Contest
Committee welcomes winner Jean Bao's father to the reception.

Speaker, Mr. Marc Frantz, welcomes Chris Watson and his
mother to the ceremony.

First-prize winner, Jean Bao, of Carmel High School, with
her parents at the reception.

Reception guests enjoy the yummy food provided by Accent's
on Catering. As you notice from the art displayed at the
reception, the theme of the contest was Mathematics and Art.
In the background, the sign announces Toyota Motors
Manufacturing of Indiana. TMMI contributed generously to
the IU Foundation to make the contest possible.

Speaker, Mr. Marc Frantz, presented a fascinating talk on
Mathematics and Art. Here, he stands in front of one of
his slides, a work of art, itself.

Chancellor of IUPUI, Gerald Bepko, welcomes students,
parents and teachers.

Mr. Ambrose Wilson, of Toyota Motors Manufacturing of
Indiana, Inc., receives a plaque of appreciation from Dean
David Stocum of the School of Science, IUPUI.

Dean Stocum and Ms. Cynthia Schwinghamer, of the Indiana
Department of Education, present Elizabeth Przybylski of
North Central with her Honorable Mention.

Bogdan Ianev, of Arsenal Technical, receives his $200 second
prize and elegant solution to problem 1 from Dean David Stocum.
