Pure Mathematics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at IUPUI offers the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics from Purdue University, with a concentration in Pure Mathematics.

Additional math requirements for the pure math option include Math 44400, 44500, 45300, and 46200 or 51000, plus 12 credits of approved electives.

Students in the pure mathematics option complete 45 credit hours of mathematics, plus a 2 credit hour Capstone Experience. A total of 124 credit hours is required to complete the degree.

Career Options

With a concentration in pure mathematics, students will be well prepared for a variety of careers in the mathematical sciences as well as for graduate work in mathematics. Pure math students have also been successful with graduate studies in other fields including computer science, economics, engineering, law, medicine, and business.
